In addition to its core Construction Business (building construction, civil engineering, and overseas construction), Shimizu engages in five areas : The Real Estate Development, Engineering, Green Energy Development, Building Life Cycle, and Frontier businesses.
Construction Business
Building Construction
Shimizu proposes, plans, designs, builds, and manages the operation and maintenance of offices, plants, schools, hospitals, and a variety of other buildings.
In addition to proudly claiming top share in orders for medical facilities and welfare facilities such as nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, 18th century projects such as repair work on Nikko Toshogu Shrine and construction of the West Wing of Edo Castle by our founder, Kisuke Shimizu, was the beginning of our extensive track record in construction of temples, shrines, and traditional architecture. Another unique asset of Shimizu is the Tokyo Mokkoujou Arts & Crafts Furnishings, an in-house factory that specializes in woodwork.
We have also taken on the challenge of employing robotic technologies to improve productivity in recent years.

Civil Engineering
Shimizu designs, builds, and renovates tunnels, bridges, dams, urban infrastructure, energy facilities, and other public works.
After completing Japan's first underground LNG (liquid natural gas) tank in 1970, Shimizu constructed half of the existing large underground LNG tanks in Japan.
We have also taken on the challenges of projects that pose a high degree of difficulty, such as construction of the Ukishima South section of the Tokyo Bay Aqua-line Kawasaki Tunnel, the Kamihiro & Motoasakusa section of the Oedo subway line, Yamba Dam, and Oizumi Minami on the (southbound) Tokyo Outer Ring Road tunnel, and are accumulating technical expertise and a track record through these projects.

Shimizu entered the overseas market in the 1970s and has developed a track record over 60 countries.
Since establishing an office in Singapore in 1974, Shimizu has participated in construction of manufacturing facilities, high-rise buildings, hospitals, bridges, subways, and other construction projects in countries around the world, primarily in Southeast Asia. We are contributing to the development of these countries and enabling people to live in comfort.

Real Estate Development
Shimizu leverages the technology and expertise it has developed in the construction business in real estate development of office buildings, logistics facilities, and other properties. We are developing properties under our own brands, the i-Mark Building series of office buildings and the S.LOGi series of logistics facilities. Shimizu also entered the overseas real estate development market in 2011. We are involved in condominiums, data centers, office buildings, and other projects in Southeast Asia and have expanded to North America.

Green Energy Development
In addition to developing and operating solar, biomass, and other renewable energy power generation facilities, we run a zero-carbon green power retail business through our wholly-owned subsidiary, Smart Eco Energy Co., Ltd. We contribute to achieving a zero-carbon society and carbon neutrality by providing solutions tailored to our customers’ diverse environmental needs. This is accomplished through a combination of our own power generation facilities, externally sourced non-fossil power from renewable energy, green power certificates, and more.

Emerging Frontier Business
Shimizu is emerging rapidly commercialization in four areas of emerging frontier business : ocean development, space development, harmony with nature, and venture investment in next generation technologies.
Our concept of developing untapped frontiers such as the ocean and space began in the 1980s. In 2018, we established the new Emerging Frontiers Division to move from R&D to commercialization.
