Belue Creative Co., Ltd., a startup and a leader in the information security industry, and Shimizu Corporation (President: Kazuyuki Inoue) jointly developed a security diagnostics system. The purpose of the development is to strengthen the information security countermeasures in DX-Core, a building operating system. This diagnostics system is a new option of maintenance service that runs diagnostics once a year to maintain DX-Core's operating environment safe.

DX-Core is a building OS that facilitates the digital transformation of building operations. It is an open system available from any vendor and able to connect with a diverse range of services including building management systems, security systems, IoT devices, network infrastructure, and service applications. Notably, it can be packaged according to the customers’ needs. On the security front, DX-Core implements measures conforming with the Guidelines for Cyber-Physical Security Countermeasures for Building Systems advocated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

Meanwhile, DX-Core is no exception and uses computer networks that are highly likely to be exposed to information security risks, and it is recommended for its users to conduct sophisticated security diagnostics continuously. DX-Core is an open system that means the security measures must be designed for the entire system, not just specific devices. Therefore, Shimizu collaborates with Belue, a team of security experts, for security diagnostics.

Belue Creative Co., Ltd., is a member of the Cybersecurity Council of Japan's National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC). The company provides services that meet METI's Information Security Service Standards. The diagnostics system Belue and Shimizu have developed eliminates information security risks in all DX-Core processes involving design, installation, operation, upgrades, and disposal. Of those processes, operation, upgrades, and disposal can receive security diagnostics as an option of maintenance service.

The system is made up of software that runs diagnostics on the DX-Core operating environment via the cloud with some 700 diagnostics guidelines. The diagnostics guidelines conform with the Cybersecurity Framework and cybersecurity guidelines written by the U.S. National Institutes of Standards and Technology. They are designed so that even non-information engineers can easily build information security countermeasures when installing DX-Core. A monthly license for the diagnostics software costs 100,000 yen for every 10,000 square meters. To maintain a safe operating environment, an inspection that takes place once a year checks for security holes and unauthorized Wi-Fi on wired and Wi-Fi network systems.

While continuing to install DX-Core and digitalize building functions, Shimizu will expand the implementation sites of the operating system to hospitals, factories, schools, and commercial complexes.
