The History and Evolution of Steel-Frame Buildings
This corner introduces the history and evolution of steel-frame buildings, including the history of the Mitsui Main Building, for which relatively large volumes of information are available, as well as the history of joining techniques essential for building steel-frame buildings.
The Evolution of Tile and Brick Construction Technologies
This corner focuses on the era extending from the late Meiji Period to the early Showa Period. The Great Kanto Earthquake occurred during this time, prompting a shift from brick to concrete construction. Various bricklaying and tiling materials/techniques used during this time are displayed and described.
History and Development of Concrete Structures
This corner introduces issues, largely of historical interest, related to concrete materials and construction techniques. It also provides detailed information based on actual samples from the interiors of past architectural and civil engineering concrete structures, which are generally not visible from the outside.
