Core-Suspended Isolation System
Safety & Security Library
The Safety & Security Library inside the Center introduces basic knowledge related to earthquakes and various Shimizu technologies related to earthquake-damage prevention measures, earthquake response, and post-earthquake restoration. It also displays countermeasures that protect buildings against damage caused by fire, floods, wind, and other natural disasters.
Features of the Facilities
The Safety & Security Center building incorporates a core-suspended isolation system capable of absorbing motion in three modes: swaying, swinging, and core rocking.
- Structure:
Core-Suspended Isolation Structure
Core walls (reinforced concrete structure)
Suspended outer frame (steel structure) - Foundation:PHC precast piles (800 mm in diameter x 4 piles)
- Structural story height:4.15 m on Floor 1, and 3.00 m on Floors 2 through 4
- Total weight of suspended sections (including movable load): approx. 180 tons
