Shimizu Corporation (President: Kazuyuki Inoue) has concluded an agreement with the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) to join the Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme as an Official Supporter in the category of “Construction Services for Facilities and Public Infrastructures.”
For more than 210 years since its founding in 1804, Shimizu has pursued endeavors in the construction business through a dedication to monozukuri (superb craftsmanship) and a ceaseless spirit of innovation. In so doing, we have been widely involved in construction of various facilities and public infrastructures. As for the Olympic Games, we built Yoyogi National Stadium, 1st Gymnasium, and Port of Shonan “Enoshima Yacht Harbor” for the Olympic Games Tokyo 1964. In preparation for Tokyo 2020 Games, Shimizu has been engaged in the construction work of the Olympic Gymnasium Centre in Tokyo’s Ariake district and the earthquake-resistant retrofitting work for the Yoyogi National Stadium, 1st Gymnasium.
Moreover, Shimizu has been aiming to “realize an inclusive society,” where everyone is valued and works lively, in line with the concepts of the company’s basic principles of management, “The Analects and the Abacus (Ethics and Economics)”, and its corporate message, "Today’s Work, Tomorrow’s Heritage." For this purpose, we have continued to promote equality and empowerment of people with an impairment, popularize para sports, and train volunteers who are well-versed in such sports.
Setting our communication message: “Today’s work, Tomorrow’s Heritage Tokyo 2020”, we will contribute to the success of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 as an Official Supporter in the category of "Construction Services for Facilities and Public Infrastructures.”

Volunteer training events, etc.
- Since November 2015, we have held the “Shimizu Volunteer Academy” six times. The purpose of the event is to train volunteers who are well-versed in supporting the needs of people with an impairment. About 500 volunteers, including Shimizu executives, employees and members of the public, have participated thus far.
- In para sports, Shimizu has been proactively working with the Japanese Para-Sports Association (JPSA) to popularize para sports since 2015 as an official partner of the JPSA. In addition, since 2014, Shimizu has been sponsoring a para sports experience event, "Sports for Everyone," organized by NPO STAND. The event has been held on a total of 12 occasions at branches across Japan with over 1,100 participants experiencing the sports.
