Shimizu Corporation (President: Kazuyuki Inoue) has published Shimizu Corporate Report 2017. This report includes non-financial information on the environment, social, and corporate governance (ESG) aspects of the business in addition to information on the company history, company principles, management policy, business strategies, and financial information. It is intended to deepen the understanding of the company by all of our stakeholders.

Chapter 1: Overview of Shimizu Construction

This chapter covers Shimizu's history over the more than 210 years since it was founded, the types of businesses it operates, the corporate governance structure, and main financial highlights (over the past five years), among other information.

Chapter 2: Management Policies

This chapter introduces the president's message about Shimizu's goal of "achieving sustained growth while creating environments in which people can live in comfort, safe and secure," and explains our long-term vision and Midterm Management Plan for achieving that.

Chapter 3: Strategies and Initiatives by Business Area

This chapter explains the strategies and outlook for the domestic construction business, the domestic civil engineering business, the overseas construction business, the investment development (real estate development) business, the engineering business, new businesses, and research and development.

Chapter 4: Special Feature: Three Priority Areas in which to Grow Together with Society

This chapter explains Shimizu's specific initiatives in our Global Business, Building Stock Management Business, and Sustainability Business, the three key areas we target as the second and third cornerstones of our business in addition to our main construction business.

Chapter 5: Topics: A Heritage for the Next Generation

This chapter explains about the National Museum of Western Art (designed by Le Corbusier and built by Shimizu), which was registered as a World Heritage Site on July 17, 2016, and the continued efforts of Shimizu to protect the building from the time it was completed in 1959 until the present.

Chapter 6: CSR Management

This chapter explains the CSR Management of Shimizu with regard to the environment, society, and corporate governance (ESG), based on the three pillars of CSR activities: Fairness & Transparency in Business, Creating Value Surpassing the Expectations of Customers and Society, and the Pursuit of Business Activities that Coexist with Society.
